RxForFit About Me

About Me

It’s important to really know your personal trainer. First of all, this person is going to be responsible for your physical wellness, and they are also going to be encouraging you and helping you when you struggle. That’s a big deal!

With that being said, here’s a deep dive into my background so you can feel comfortable when we meet. I’m sure we’ll be friends in no time!

Once I realized that I wanted to help people with their overall health and well-being, I started the path toward my certifications.

  • 🎓Doctor of Pharmacy, Purdue University 2003
  • 🎓Certified Personal Trainer, NASM 2016
  • 🎓Certified Insanity Live Instructor since 2016
  • 🎓CPR and AED Certified since 2016
  • 🎓Resistance Training Specialist (RTS) Level 2 Education, 2017-present
  • 🎓Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT) Jumpstart Certified, 2019
  • 🎓Pre- & Postnatal Coaching Certification (Girls Gone StrongTM), 2024

RTS is to the fitness world what Cirque du Soleil is to circuses. It takes something which seems hokey on the surface and turns it into something highly specialized and technical. This improves muscle strength and tone which protects joints from injury. It also has the added benefits of maintaining flexibility and balance. I’m excited to add this knowledge to my practice and help my clients in a more robust way.

I pursued MAT Jumpstart certification to be able to identify and correct muscular imbalances in the body. This is an invaluable tool to use if one side of the body has less range of motion than the other, which can happen as we age.

I am most proud of my pre- & postnatal coaching certification. No pregnancy or birthing experience is the same and it’s imperative to understand how to properly assess and coach women through their pregnancy experience and beyond. Rest assured, you will be in qualified hands if you choose to train with me during your pregnancy or after, regardless of your experience with strength training.

“Amy Hoff is not only a great trainer, but she is also a wonderful person. She truly cares about her clients and wants to see them succeed. Workouts are fun and creative. She has a gym fully loaded with the equipment needed for a complete workout. Don’t underestimate her stature-Amy’s a little spitfire. She’ll push you just enough to get the job done without overdoing it. I definitely recommend her training program.-Rae H.”

My philosophy and approach to training are much different from typical gym expectations.

I don’t have my clients follow a set protocol of exercises with a specific number of reps at a pre-determined weight for a set number of weeks.

Why? Because I understand that every individual’s body has different needs, even day-to-day. Considerations include the following questions:

  • Did you get enough sleep the night before?
  • Did you skip breakfast?
  • Are you under stress at home or work?

All these factors, and more, can hinder your performance. We will work together to create a plan that will increase strength in a way that is appropriate for you each time you come in. I emphasize micro-progression, which leads to steady gains without injuries.

Are you looking for sustainable results? That’s my specialty. I can’t wait to hear about your goals and tell you how I can help you achieve them! 🙌

You only get one body to last a lifetime. Treat it well!
